Reel.com Debuts Holiday Store

Web-based movie superstore Reel.com (Nasdaq: HLYW) announced the launch of its Holiday Store today, offering gift recommendations as well as gift packages, box sets, low-price movies and live chats with Reel.com representatives.

“Reel.com’s gift store and services will make selecting, wrapping and delivering gifts easy and affordable this holiday,” said Dave Rochlin, chief operating officer for Reel.com. “We have a series of unique and entertaining gift finders that leverage the movie expertise of our staff and make it easy to select the perfect gift.”

A Holiday Store with All The Trimmings

The company has stockpiled holiday gift favorites, including DVDs, box sets, gifts under $10 (US$) and items for children. In addition, the holiday store introduces new services to personalize gifts and support the selection and buying process.

The site offers gift wrapping and gift messages. Reel.com also offers electronic gift certificates. Help and information is available through live chats with informed sales representatives that can assist with selection and explain shipping and wrapping services.

Reel.com staff includes film school graduates, video store veterans, screenwriters and other film experts to create editorial content and to offer customers detailed answers to inquiries about movies.

Reel Recommendations for Gift Buyers

Reel.com is also introducing Reel Recommends, a tool that matches movie selections with personality profiles. Using personalization software, the gift buyer can answer a few questions about the gift receiver’s age, gender, interests and preferences. The device then recommends specific movies that the receiver is likely to enjoy.

This personalization software is being added this season to a number of retail shopping sites. After running through a few questions about likes and dislikes, the software has an uncanny ability to produce excellent choices of movies, music, even clothing. The service is expected to be a big help for gift buyers who have no idea what grandkids across the country might like.
