Styleclick.com Goes Broadband With Intertainer

Online apparel retailer Styleclick.com (Nasdaq: IBUY) has signed a broadband content syndication agreement with Intertainer Inc., an interactive network that provides entertainment-on-demand to both cable and telecommunications companies. Styleclick.com’s content will appear on Intertainer’s service when it launches to consumer audiences in the fall.

Styleclick.com will be featured alongside sitcoms and children’s shows, as well as on Intertainer’s shopping channels. The companies will share revenue from sales of all merchandise featured on the new service.

“Emerging broadband companies are looking to take advantage of the visual media because of the compelling experience it provides,” said Maurizio Vecchione, Styleclick.com’s president and co-CEO. “We can provide Intertainer with top brands from the largest data warehouse of digital 3-D content currently available.”

Image-By-Image Comparisons

Styleclick.com bills itself as the first e-commerce site where buyers can visually compare the look of items, not just the price. Styleclick.com offers many products in high resolution, giving customers the ability to pan and zoom to get a closer look. Featured products can be viewed in three-dimensional rotation.

Styleclick.com, formerly known as Modacad Inc., is partnered with such companies as America Online, Excite@Home, iVillage and Women.com.

Intertainer’s strategic partners include NBC, Comcast, Warner Brothers, U.S. West, Sony and Intel. The company plans to offer access to hours of movies, music, television and shopping through computers or televisions using high-speed data connections. Intertainer also has partnerships with Cisco Systems, Sun Microsystems,Veon and Concurrent Computer Corp.

Additionally, Intertainer’s services will soon be available on airplanes. Just two weeks ago, the company announced that it has licensed its technology to Sextant In-Flight Systems, which develops in-flight entertainment systems for airlines.

“For Intertainer, building our on-demand service on an open architecture is one of our founding principles,” said Jonathan Taplin, Intertainer’s co-founder. “Our commitment to open standards now means our technology and value transcend the telco and cable environments as an enabler for Sextant In-Flight Systems.”
