Go2Net and MyComputer.com To Offer Site Analysis Tools

Online network Go2Net (Nasdaq: GNET) and MyComputer.com, a provider of integrated Web-site management tools, announced a deal today to offer site analysis for businesses that use Go2Net’s free Hypermart Web hosting service.

HyperMart, combined with Go2Net’s Virtual Avenue and FreeYellow.com, provide services for more than 750,000 small and medium-sized businesses. HyperMart’s member businesses can now access a free version of MyComputer.com’s site tracking and analysis service or pay for a more comprehensive subscription-based service.

“As we extend HyperMart’s leadership position in the small to medium-sized business sector, it’s important that we not only enable our member businesses to establish a basic Web presence, but also empower them,” said Margo Day, Go2Net vice president and managing director of HyperMart.

Users Monitor Traffic, Marketing Effectiveness

By using MyComputer.com’s SuperStats service, businesses can track their site’s traffic, as well as research visitor profiles to find out more about the site’s traffic breakdown, audience and marketing effectiveness.

Users can check daily, monthly and yearly reports for hits, unique visitors and most popular pages, as well as information about what country their visitors are from and what browsers and operating systems they are using.

While this basic information is offered by most paid Web-hosting services, HyperMart is now providing users with both free Web hosting and free Web-site analysis.

Also available for users of the Superstats service is information about how visitors were referred to the site, whether through advertising, search engines or links from other sites. This information is perhaps most crucial for businesses who want to see how well their advertising and marketing efforts are paying off.

SuperStats’ service will be integrated throughout HyperMart, with an automated set-up process for users. Once users are set up, there is no maintenance required on their part.

“It’s not just about corporate Webmasters anymore,” said Josh James, CEO of MyComputer.com. “Services such as HyperMart are allowing hundreds of thousands of small to medium-sized businesses to easily establish themselves on the Internet. This presents a very large, untapped group that can benefit from services like ours.”

Stock Impact

Shares of Go2Net, one of the year’s best-performing stocks, climbed 2-5/8 to 84-5/8 in early trading today after the news.

Go2Net is trading more than 1,000 percent higher that its low of the year, with many investors banking on the fact that Microsoft co-founder and major investor Paul Allen is intent on turning the company into a major portal presence.
