Network Solutions to Give UPS Link to Small Business

United Parcel Service, in an effort to enhance its suite of online business options, has formed a strategic alliance with Network Solutions, Inc. The new union is intended to allow UPS customers to immediately register Web addresses on Network Solutions’ Web site.

The agreement calls for Network Solutions to display a link to the UPS e-commerce Web site, in its dot com toolkitTM, a small business resource center that provides access to tools and services for setting up a Web site and doing business on the Internet.

Customers using the site can click on the UPS link to access a full suite of business solutions, including easy-to-install tools, online shipping systems, electronic document delivery and management service, and systems for electronic processing of shipments.

Once UPS customers access Network Solutions’ Web address registration services, both sites are expected to experience an increase in the volume of impressions currently monitored. UPS receives approximately 1.3 million customers per day.

A Few Strategic Handshakes

“The implications that e-commerce holds for small-and medium-sized businesses is phenomenal,” said Ross McCullough, UPS group manager of electronic commerce marketing. “At UPS, our strategy is to make it easy for companies to compete in a digital environment. With that in mind, UPS is striking agreements with companies like Network Solutions to link our customers to vital information they need to make their e-commerce businesses flourish.”

UPS already features software solutions from AT&T, IBM, and several others.

UPS and Network Solutions, Inc. both recognize the market potential in the more than 11 million small businesses in the U.S. The 11 million amounts to half the total work force, a figure that is projected to grow exponentially over the next several years.
