OpenSite Auction 4.0 Announced

Software developer OpenSite Technologies will release Version 4.0 of its OpenSite Auction software next week, on February 15, with a variety of new features. The software helps automate the process of setting up and running real-time auctions over the Web.

The new version will be available in three different editions: Corporate, Merchant and Professional, to address a variety of e-commerce models.

What’s New and Improved

The company indicates that new features will include enhanced remote installation, and an OpenSite template editor and style editor, which allow users to customize the layout and design of their auction sites.

Additional features in the Corporate edition include reverse auction capabilities, which allow companies to solicit bids for vendor services, and a private auction application, which permits auction administrators to provide selective access to particular categories.

The Corporate edition will also enable customers with a Windows NT Server to use Oracle as the database engine for OpenSite Auction, and use third-party query and reporting tools to manage and analyze auction data.

Additional Background

OpenSite recently won Fall Internet World’s “Best of Show” award for “Outstanding E-Commerce Applications” and Internet Commerce Expo’s “Best of Class” award in the area of “Web-based Selling.”

OpenSite Technologies was founded in 1996 and is based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The company reports that it has more than 50% market share of public Web auction sites, including several sites that we have profiled as E-Commerce Times Success Stories.
