Cisco, Sun and InterWorld To Sell E-Commerce Package

A trio of firms today rolled out a product they say will allow would-be e-businesses to quickly establish seamless retail Internet sites.

Cisco Systems (Nasdaq:CSCO), Sun Microsystems (Nasdaq:SUNW), and InterWorld Corp., have teamed to develop “Retail Essentials,” which, developers say, contains all of the tools that prospective and existing e-businesses need to either build an e-commerce site from scratch, or retool a site that is not currently effective.

“This is a complete package to get any retailer up [and running],” Sun global markets executive Chris Krechting told Newsbytes today.

Two Main Customer Bases

The two main customer bases to which the technology triumvirate is targeting the Retail Essentials package are “dot-com start-ups” and “large brick-and-mortar retailers” that have yet to establish online operations, Krechting said. Retail Essentials will also be marketed as a fix to poorly designed or otherwise non-effective e-commerce sites.

Executives for the three companies said today that if the Retail Essentials package is successful it may be followed by a number of other products developed jointly by the by the high-tech trio.

More information about the Retail Essentials package is available.
