Shares of online sports retailer Global Sports climbed nearly seven percent on Monday, gaining 1-1/2 to 23-5/8 after the company announced a marketing partnership with Yahoo!.
Under the terms of the deal, the Web sites of Global Sports’ partners will be featured prominently across Yahoo!’s network of properties. The sites will receive promotion in numerous sports-related areas of Yahoo!, including fantasy sports and sports news. In addition, Global Sports and Yahoo! will work together to provide affiliate opportunities to users of Geocities.
Global Sports could be a company to watch. Sports, along with financial information and sex, is one of the three big traffic-drivers on the Internet, and Global Sports is partnered with some strong brands including The Sports Authority and The Athlete’s Foot.
