Stock Watch: Strong September Sends SportsLine Higher

SportsLine.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPLN) edged up 1/16 to 13 7/8 early Monday after the Internet sports media company said its site saw 1.1 billion page views in September.

Sunday traffic averaged about 70 million daily page views, up 235 percent over the first four Sundays of the 1999 National Football League (NFL) season.

Chief executive Michael Levy gave part of the credit to the company’s decision to offer fantasy football free of charge, through a sponsorship arrangement with Miller Lite beer. SportsLine also is the exclusive provider of the fantasy football products for the NFL’s official Web site, NFL.com.

“It’s clear that our move to free fantasy football has been extremely successful in attracting both traffic and sponsorship,” Levy said.
