Alteon WebSystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATON) was up 11 41/64 at 112 37/64 early Tuesday after the company said it expects to report an operating profit in the quarter just ended, three quarters ahead of schedule.
The San Jose, California-based maker of e-business software said that revenue for the quarter was about $51 million, up 80 percent from the previous quarter, due to strong growth across all product lines. Web hosters and application service providers were the biggest customers. New customers added during the quarter included GTE Internet, ICG Communications and Planet Online.
The company cautioned that while it expects “continued strong revenue growth,” it is not likely to see similar percentage surges in future quarters. Results for the fourth quarter ended June 30th will be reported after the close of trading July 20th.
