BMC Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: BMCS) lost 1 3/16 to close at 16 7/16 Wednesday after the company said second quarter revenue and earnings would be below earlier estimates.
The Houston, Texas-based e-business software company said revenue for the quarter ended September 30th will be $320 million to $330 million, with earnings before items totaling $25 million to $30 million, or 10 to 12 cents per share. In the year-earlier quarter, the company reported income before items of $110.4 million, or 44 cents per share, on revenue of $415.7 million.
“We continue to see a lack of a sufficient number of customers committing to large enterprise transactions,” said BMC president Max Watson. “We will continue to adjust our business models and strategies to reflect this market reality.”
