Stock Watch: Netcentives Gets Boost from Business Week

Netcentives (Nasdaq: NCNT) rose 2 3/4 to 17 Friday after Business Week magazine’s “Inside Wall Street” column questioned the stock’s recent drop, in light of a number of positive new developments.

Netcentives, which provides companies and Web sites with customer loyalty programs, is used by such companies as America Online, American Express, Citigroup and CMGI, Inc., each of which holds a stake of nearly 5 percent in Netcentives, Business Week said.

Business Week also quoted U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray analyst Timothy Klein as saying he expects the company to be profitable in 2002.

Netcentives shares, which traded as high as 80 in December, reached a low of 9 last month.
