Internet telephony company Net2Phone (Nasdaq: NTOP) soared more than 23 percent on Monday, climbing 3-7/8 to 20-3/8 after the company announced significant distribution deals with NBC online properties. Under the terms of the deals, Net2Phone’s PC-to-phone service will be promoted on Snap.com, NBC.com and NBC’s online network of owned and affiliated stations, NBCin.com.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but NBC and Snap.com will now have equity stakes in Net2Phone. This looks like it could be a good deal all around. Net2Phone will get valuable exposure, and NBC, which is set to create a newly public company known as NBC Internet, has nicely strengthened its online presence.
