Stock Watch: Golf.com Deal Boosts Quokka Sports

Quokka Sports, Inc. (Nasdaq: QKKA) gained 2 3/8 to close at 7 3/4 Friday after announcing it had acquired a stake in Golf.com from Total Sports.

Quokka’ s first presentation through the Golf.com agreement will be to carry NBC’s coverage of the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. There will be live tournament updates, expert commentary and features such as course information, Quokka said. Quokka is licensing Total Sports’ technology and production services for the site.

Quokka has sites devoted to sailing, car racing and other sports.

Golf.com features NBC Sports golf coverage, and provides more than 100 hours of live broadcasts each year. It also carries scores, statistics, news and services like tee-time reservations, travel services and a pro shop.
