Stock Watch: FairMarket Rises on UK Plans

FairMarket, Inc. (Nasdaq: FAIM) rose 1 9/16 to 8 11/16 Monday after the Woburn, Massachusetts-based online auction provider announced plans to set up a UK network featuring MSN, Excite, Virgin Net and FiredUp.com.

The company said the site has the potential to reach more than half the Internet users in the UK, as the sites can be accessed from one another.

“Our networked commerce model has proven to be very successful in the U.S., and includes some of the leading merchants and portals in the world,” said FairMarket Chief Executive Officer Scott Randall. “We look forward to serving the UK market.”
