Shares of e-commerce software developer Silknet Software (Nasdaq: SILK) gained 12.5 percent Monday, rising 3-15/16 to 35-7/16 after the company announced a new strategic alliance.

Silknet and enterprise interaction management software company Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories (Nasdaq: GTCI) will team up to offer an integrated solution that will allow businesses to manage relationships with customers via email, chat, telephone and other channels.

Like Portal Software, Silknet offers investors a chance to buy into ecommerce without investing in an actual retailer. Unlike Portal Software, Silknet also benefits from having CMGI as a major investor. Keep an eye on this one.
