As part of a new partnership, a new health section scheduled to launch next month on theglobe.com will feature content from drkoop.com, the Internet health network led by former Surgeon General Dr. C. Everett Koop.

Drkoop.com will provide most of the content for theglobe.com's health channel, which will include comprehensive healthcare information, news and interactive services. It will be divided into sections on healthcare issues for men, women and children, as well as nutrition and fitness.

Online Pharmacy Access

Theglobe.com's health channel also will include access to an online pharmacy where users can order drug refills online prescribed by their physicians, determine drug interactions and shop for over-the counter essentials such as vitamins and supplements, and more.

Drkoop.com, rated the top consumer health Web site in April by Media Metrix, recently announced an Internet-based strategic e-commerce relationship with Drug Emporium, America's first online drugstore. The alliance will allow drkoop.com users access to over 20,000 deep discounted drug and healthcare products via DrugEmporium.com.

As part of the new agreement, one of theglobe.com's premier shopping outlets, the "Shopper's Club," will be featured on the drkoop.com site. theglobe.com's new health section will also feature headline health news and other health related features.

Koop 'One of Most Trusted'

"We are thrilled to join forces with an online health network led by one of the most trusted and respected individuals in the medical profession," said Stephan Paternot, co-chief executive officer, theglobe.com.

"Through this alliance, we will empower our users to play a more active role in managing their health by providing them with easy access to the best healthcare information and services available on the Internet." Donald Hackett, drkoop.com president & CEO, said theglobe.com's strong integration of content, commerce and community "lends itself perfectly to our consumer-driven focus."
