Autoweb.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: AWEB) gained 1 to close at 4 9/16 Wednesday after the online information service for car buyers announced that it has inked a four-year contract with America Online.
Autoweb will license its content, data and technology to AOL, making it easier for AOL subscribers to research and buy cars. Through AOL, AOL.com, CompuServe, Netscape Netcenter and AOL Digital City, consumers will be able to configure cars by manufacturer, model and other specifications, and compare prices of competing vehicles.
The Autoweb deal is the second announced in as many days for AOL, which is gearing up for the fall launch of its auto site. AOL fell 15/16 to 57 1/16.
