Mojiva has rolled out Mojiva Tab, a new mobile ad network for tablets only, as advertisers flock to this hot piece of digital real estate. In 2011, there were an estimated 3 million tablets on Mojiva's mobile ad network. By January 2012, that number had increased to 25 million. As of June 2012, the network was boasting access to 40 million tablet devices.

Mobile Gains Greater Ad Share, Sparks Innovation October 12, 2012
Online outlets' share of the advertising pie grew 14 percent from a year ago, with mobile channels commanding a larger bite as more users consume content on smartphones and tablets, according to a new report from the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Advertisers spent a total of $17 billion on online ads in the first half of 2012.

Facebook Steps Out on Mobile App Ad Tightrope August 09, 2012
Facebook announced Tuesday that it is testing a new ad program for mobile apps in a limited beta. The system is aimed at iOS and Android developers who want to grow the audience for their apps, according to Facebook engineer Vijaye Raji. Anyone who clicks on an ad for an app will be sent to the App Store or Google Play to download it, assuming it is not already installed on the device.

Facebook on Thursday released its first quarterly earnings report since its monster IPO in May. During the period, Facebook reported revenues of $1.18 billion but couldn't turn a profit, losing $157 million, or eight cents a share. Investors weren't happy with what they saw. The company's stock price dove to $23.38 in after-market trading and slipped to a new 52-week low of $22.28 Friday morning.

iPad-vertising Is Taking Off May 25, 2012
Tablets are now a solid fixture in the mobile ad ecosystem, according to a new report. However, the format hasn't been fully exploited yet, in spite of the tablet's strong presence in the mobile world, thanks to Apple's iPad. Non-phone mobile devices -- primarily, tablets -- accounted for 20 percent of all impressions for Q1 2012, compared to 15 percent in the first quarter of 2011, according to Millennial Media's latest mobile advertising report.

Google's Armor Shows Some Chinks January 20, 2012
Google's investments in mobile advertising and dark clouds over Europe contributed to weak quarterly sales and earnings. Share prices fell 10 percent on the news that Google's fourth quarter sales of $8.13 billion fell short of analyst estimates of $8.41 billion. Profit before certain costs was $9.50 per share, which was a dollar shy of the $10.50 estimate on the street.

Android has become the platform for mobile advertisers to target, it would seem, based on separate reports from ABI Research and Millennial Media. Android served up more ad impressions overall in Q3 than rival iOS, at 56 percent, Millennial Media reported. For its part, ABI Media noted that in Q2, Android overtook iOS to become the market share leader in mobile application downloads.

Verizon Makes No Bones About New Ad-Friendly Privacy Terms October 14, 2011
Verizon Wireless has changed its privacy policy to permit it to do, well, almost anything it wants to with users' data. The new policy, which is opt-out, allows it to track subscribers' Web browsing, location and app usage behavior. The policy allows it to share this data with third parties in order to produce business and marketing reports, although in these instances, the data will be anonymized.

Android device users spend more time on their apps than on the mobile Web, and the top 10 apps account for 43 percent of that time, according to Nielsen. When the top 50 Android apps are considered, they account for 61 percent of the time Android device users spend on apps. Bing Capitalizes on the Online Coupon Craze March 04, 2011
Microsoft's search engine, Bing, launched a new daily deals aggregator on Thursday. The service, called "Bing deals," compiles offers from Groupon, Livingsocial, Restaurant.com and more through a partnership with The DealMap. Bing deals is able to sort by location based on a user's mobile device, allowing people to find deals at nearby restaurants, for example.
