Comcast recently surprised users when it cut off Internet access to those it considers "bandwidth hogs." The incident calls for an examination of the link between Net Neutrality and digital piracy. Depending on what side of the Net neutrality debate one is on, the Comcast cut-off could be viewed as proof that ISPs have too much power or that ISPs really do need to protect their networks from abuse. To help figure this out, consider why Comcast kicked the bandwidth hogs off the network in the first place.

The inventor of the web recently stated of net neutrality : "This is serious" (http://dig.csail.mit.edu/breadcrumbs/node/144). Undermining the net just to help line the pockets of a few interested parties just doesn't make sense. Piracy is a red herring.
