Hewlett-Packard has announced it plans to stop actively selling its e3000 servers, which have a history stretching back more than 30 years. Attachment to the product line remains strong in some corners, with a Web site listing dozens of locations that are holding mock "wakes" to mark the passing of the servers, which were launched in 1972. Meanwhile, HP rival IBM is seeking to use the discontinuance to convince HP customers to switch to its products.

Somewhere out there is the company that will migrate from the HP3000 to the AS/400. It's a shame Digital isn't still around to offer them a VAX.
