See Full StorySenator Conrad Burns (R-Montana) has announced plans to introduce a bill that would give
the U.S. government more influence over ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names
and Numbers), the overseer of Internet addressing and traffic. Rick Villers, vice president
of Internet research at Forrester, told the E-Commerce Times: "The whole point of why
ICANN was created was because there was a feeling the government was too involved. But
times have changed."

I am reminded of the US Postal Service, not part of the government, but "wink wink" it really is.
So the good senator believes that ICANN has exceeded its authority? Bottom line, whose best interest is this going to serve? Why the sudden motivation and finger pointing? I just know that being taxed to death so that the government can create more bureaucracy is not the answer, and the attempt made by Burns to pilfer from a resource that is constantly evolving is another internet scam.
