Verizon Nixes Unlimited Data Grandfather Clause Longtime Verizon customers who've grandfathered in their unlimited data plans may need to start minding their gigabytes soon. Customers who upgrade to LTE devices will soon be denied the option of renewing their unlimited data plans. Frustrated customers may run to Sprint, which still offers new customers unlimited data, but sooner or later, all major U.S. carriers may follow suit. The plan would cut carriers out of the distribution loop, and it's similar to something Google tried years ago. That plan flopped.
