See Full StoryFor the second time this month, Travelocity.com, Yahoo! and American Airlines launched a
one-day online airfare sale Thursday, a move likely to trigger another short-term
Internet price battle.
The sale, announced near the stroke of midnight (EDT) by the three participants, came
with no advance warning or promotions. A similar promotional tactic was used August 8th,
leading to record-setting ticket sales on Yahoo! Travel and Travelocity and prompting
several competing airlines to discount their tickets short-term as well.

American's claim to being the first airline to confine their one day sale to the Internet is not correct. SunCountry Airlines did that over a year ago. It is true that American is the first MAJOR airline to follow the regional airline's lead.
