Making Micro-Payment Models Work Online
The Web is exploding with low-ticket items -- think 99-cent download for an MP3 -- but credit cards struggle at this price point, because they can't make money on purchases below $1 and also can't effectively manage the risk. What's needed is a payment network that is easy, convenient and secure for consumers to use while also simple and cost-effective for merchants to accept.

Microsoft Turns on a Dime to Beat Back Google Apps
Is a price war for email cloud offerings on the horizon? Although Microsoft has just taken the plunge into Google's $5 bargain basement, others have already set their prices even lower for comparable services -- e.g., IBM at $3, Rackspace at just $1. Microsoft's sudden decision doesn't bode well for its partners, though, who may feel as though Redmond has left them out in the cold.
